Paris Fashion Week
Fashion Week. The mecca of all things style and beauty. I wish I could say that I dreamed of going since I was a little girl, but I actually couldn't have cared less about clothes until I was about 15- maybe you'll be blessed with some great outfit #TBT's eventually. However, once the style bug bit me, there was no going back; I went from 0-100 real quick. By the time I studied abroad in Paris, there was no doubt that PFW was going to be one of the highlights of my year.
As someone who is definitely not in the industry and have no connections to actually be able to attend one of the shows, I had to get creative. The schedule was posted online, but the locations were exclusive. I feverishly stalked my social media, trying to find show locations.
After class, my friends and I decided to go to one of my favorite museums, Musée Rodin. It was about a 35 minute metro ride, so we were really disappointed to see that the museum was blocked off and closed for the day. Then I began to connect the dots. It was Fashion Week. Could this be a show? Dior has had there show here before, could it be? The volunteers handing out goody bags to the fashion un-elite like myself quickly confirmed, it was Dior. We waited about 20 minutes for the attendants to begin arriving, and it quickly turned into an issue of Vogue on Rue de Varenne. Karlie Kloss strutted down the sidewalk, truly larger than life. Then I spotted Grace Coddington's hair weaving it's way through the crowd. Then Anna Dello Russo, then Bryan Boy, then Aimee Song! I thought I might drop dead when Olivia Palmero made eye contact and waved at me. Seeing icons, celebrities, and fashion that I've only dreamed of was, well, a dream come true.
